Honeydew is full of potassium and many essential vitamins. There’s no doubt that it’s good for us humans, but what about our four-legged best friends. Can dogs eat honeydew? The answer is yes, honeydew is a safe fruit for dogs to eat, but there are a few additional things you need to know before you give honeydew to your beloved doggy.
Dogs Can Eat Honeydew But…
It’s best to take out the seeds. As the seeds of most fruits contain poisonous cyanide, it’s never a good idea to let your dog eat fruit seeds.
As honeydew and other fruits are quite fiber-rich, it’s never a good idea to let your dog eat a good amount of honeydew or other fruits at once as it might cause your dog to have diarrhea and/or abdominal pain.
In moderate amounts, the fiber from honeydew is actually good for dogs. So, feeding your dog a little bit of honeydew is still a good idea.
To sum it up, dogs can eat honeydew, but remember to take out the seeds and not let your dog eat a lot of honeydew at once.
